A Green Star rated administration and office building for John Holland on the Gold Coast Light Rail estate, plus refurbishment of existing buildings across two locations.
The Gold Coast Light Rail upgrade programme is one of Queensland’s most significant infrastructure projects. It adds nearly seven kilometres of track to create a 27 kilometre network with 27 stations, running from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, connecting destinations, neighbourhoods and employment hubs.
Tallai was asked to build a Green Star rated new administration and office facility for John Holland, and to refurbish existing buildings across two locations on the estate. Tallai worked alongside Keolis Downer as the operations and maintenance operator, John Holland as principal contractor and GoldlinQ as the end client.
The administration building was a standalone structure with offices, training facilities, a kitchen, bathrooms, a mechanical and communications room and an outdoor space.
As an operational rail site, security and permit management were central to every activity and the construction methodology had to be rigorous. Quality and safety were managed through a detailed inspection and testing plan.
The building is a cornerstone for the future of transport on the Gold Coast. As the region grows, so does the impact of the project, supporting local infrastructure through the next two decades of development.
