A building the park had outgrown

The Goddard Park amenity building upgrade replaces outdated 1980s facilities with a contemporary amenities hub that better serves visitors, local sporting clubs and community groups. The old building no longer met current standards for accessibility, functionality or community use, and it limited what the park could be used for as visitor numbers grew.

Tallai delivered a full refurbishment plus new functional spaces, including change rooms, accessible toilets, viewing areas and community facilities.

Working around contaminated fill

There was contaminated fill in a neighbouring asset. Tallai provided constructability advice to limit excavation around it, and put cost options in front of Council so they could make the call rather than being handed a single number.

Tallai’s scope of work

• Site preparation and civil works. Site clearing, earthworks, excavation and groundwork for the new buildings and support structures.
• Demolition and disposal. Removal of the existing facilities and site clearing.
• Building construction and fit out. New amenities buildings, tiling, vinyl flooring, painting and architectural metalwork.
• Structural and external works. Structural steel frameworks, gabion retaining walls and support structures.
• Mechanical and plumbing. Mechanical systems, plumbing and associated infrastructure.
• Electrical and communications. Wiring, switchgear, lighting, security systems and comms cabling.
• Safety and support infrastructure. Safety features, bollards and temporary infrastructure to keep the site safe and operating during construction.
• Commissioning and validation. Final testing, calibration and system validation.

What it means for Concord

The upgrade has changed what the park can host, from sporting fixtures through to community gatherings, strengthening Goddard Park’s role as a social and active lifestyle asset for Concord.
