Overview

Building inside a live plant

Tallai was responsible for delivering the complete design and construct scope, located in a brownfield environment within North Richmond Sewage Treatment Plant, with direct management of interface, staging and commissioning planning.

The scope involved the integrated design of the new wet well pump station and wet weather storage at North Richmond. The design process involved significant integration of operational considerations to ensure the final design met the ultimate needs of the project.

Scope

Treatment plant works

  • Wet weather storage. Design and construct of a new 1.5ML wet weather storage and associated pump station, including commissioning and handover to allow the next phase of works to continue.
  • Wet well pump station. Design and construct of a 14m diameter, 17m PE lined deep wet well pump station and associated infrastructure.
  • Electrical. New LV switch room and transformer feed including full fit out and control system.
  • Chemical dosing. Dosing facilities for MHL and ferric and associated delivery bunds.
  • Micro tunnelling. Micro tunnel connection and augmentation of the existing incoming manhole under a bypass flow situation.
  • Integration. Mechanical and electrical integration to the existing operating network pump station, requiring pre cut over planning, redundancy and contingency planning, and stakeholder communications.

Network Emergency Retention Storage tanks

Tallai was responsible for delivering the design and construct of three ERS tanks at remote pump station sites to facilitate flood event inundation. The works included detailed cutover of existing pump stations and associated MCCs and pipework.

All works were conducted adjacent to residents’ houses, where significant community consultation and stakeholder management was coordinated by Tallai. The ERS tanks were PE lined structures with pipework connected to existing live Sydney Water assets.
